Political protest goes back to the '60's. You missed it. Colin Kaepernick took a knee to protest police brutality and racial inequality. Trump hijacked it and made it about the military and the police. But he was warned that if something wasn't done, thing would explode.

So when people saw the policeman taking a knee on George Flood neck and killing him, people went crazy. The DOJ under Barr stopped prosecuting rogue police officer and departments. Recently concluded investigation into the Cleveland Police Department and the Tamir Rice case conclude with no action taken by DOJ.

Kaepernick became an international voice for justice. They were taking a knee all over the world. BLM in the UK, Germany. In Sudan, the Muslims call black people "slave". They took a knee and did BLM protests.

So they should continue to use their platforms for social justice and reform.

    Why not?

Unlike countries like China the US has no laws making it mandatory to stand during the national anthem. Nor should we.

Work time is time for work.  Protest on your own free time.

  • If they want to, it's fine by me.  I guess trying to overthrow your government and killing people is okay, but kneeling is bad.  Duly noted.

I think the players can do whatever they want.  They are insignificant pawns of million owners and TV networks.  If they think their opinion really matters, they are kidding themselves.

We can stop them from kneeling by eliminating racism and police brutality, which are the reasons why they kneel.  It is the players' first amendment right to kneel. Their employers can stop them, but government cannot stop them from kneeling because any law that forbids them from kneeling violates the first amendment. Businesses are not restricted by the first amendment. That is why businesses like Twitter and Facebook can stop hate speech even if the person making the hate speech is President Trump.
