Why are people so soft nowadays?  Literally everything is considered racist, sexist, and offensive.  Can someone explain what is happening?

To America.  Cancel culture is so dumb.

I don't know why people are so sensitive now, but it is ridiculous.

People like to establish social-scandals out of everything they can for others to side on and make a full-scale manipulation using full-scale false-witnesses to get others on whom receive backfire from authority that their complaint of such abuse is not being listened to by anybody, all for social-control they shouldn't have through them making bogus offenses by twisting faults with its sham reasonings as intelligence failures used against you to fail.

It's not a question of anyone being soft, it's systematic social abuse out of pure nothing.

Cancel culture is the phenomenon or practice where unaccountable people publicly reject, boycott, or advocate ending support for an individual, group, or brand because of the latter’s association with socially unacceptable behavior. It has been practiced for decades in this country by both the conservatives and liberals. Back in the 50s, liberals were afraid of being “canceled” by being labeled as communist sympathizers. In the present day, conservatives are “canceled” for, well, being conservative.

In today’s world, the standard that delineates what is acceptable and what is not is a liberal, pro-LGBTQ, pro-abortion, anti-racism, and anti-Trump attitude. If you don’t agree with the leftist agenda, you can lose your reputation, popularity, or even your job. In my opinion, the Cancel Culture of the left is a hypocritical attitude of intolerance while demanding tolerance. Its depths and tentacles are varied and deeply interwoven into today’s society. It is causing a restriction on free speech.

“A new Cato national survey finds that self‐censorship is on the rise in the United States. Nearly two-thirds—62%—of Americans say the political climate these days prevents them from saying things they believe because others might find them offensive. The share of Americans who self‐censor has risen several points since 2017 when 58% of Americans agreed with this statement…Nearly a third (32%) of employed Americans say they personally are worried about missing out on career opportunities or losing their job if their political opinions became known” https://www.cato.org/publications/survey-reports/p...

The liberal, self-righteous, online, brown-shirt, social police will take to Twitter, Facebook, chat forums, etc., to denounce and attack people who, for example, say anything bad about transgenderism, homosexuality, gender identity, LGBTQ, or have been deemed racist, or even support the “wrong” political candidate. It is cancel culture run amuck. Conservativism, biblically-based morals, and non-politically correct attitudes are not welcome! But, I digress. Please consider the following examples of condemnation by the left. (quoted from https://www.bbc.com/news/business-54374824)

Equinox: The gym club brand faced a backlash after it emerged that its owner was holding a Trump fund-raiser

Starbucks: Was targeted for telling employees not to wear Black Lives Matter T-shirts and badges

Nike: Released a shoe with the original US flag. The flag has only 13 stars and comes from a time when slavery was legal

Uncle Ben’s: Changed its name and branding after criticism over racial stereotyping

The Cancel Culture eats its own

Not only does a cancer culture, oops, sorry, the Cancel Culture, attack conservatives, it also attacks liberals.

Things have gotten bad enough, that on 7/7/2020, the liberal Harper’s Magazine published, “A Letter on Justice and Open Debate.” It was signed by 152 writers, teachers, journalists, poets, and columnists, from Colleges, universities, institutes, and publishers. It says regarding the cancel culture, that…

“The free exchange of information and ideas, the lifeblood of a liberal society, is daily becoming more constricted. While we have come to expect this on the radical right, censoriousness is also spreading more widely in our culture: an intolerance of opposing views, a vogue for public shaming and ostracism, and the tendency to dissolve complex policy issues in a blinding moral certainty.”

    Yeah, it’s getting bad.

Wait conservatives do the same thing!

We know the left imposes harsh condemnation on the right based on socially acceptable or not acceptable standards – which is constantly changing and moving towards anti-Christian attitudes. But, doesn’t the conservative right to do the same thing to the liberal left? Isn’t it true that conservatives will move to boycott a brand or person or even support a conservative person or cause? Yes, it’s true. Those in the conservative right have boycotted or even supported things, brands, and people. So, is it hypocritical for me to complain about the liberal left when the conservative right does the same thing?

My complaint is against the liberal left that supports ungodly and anti-Christian practices like abortion, homosexuality, transgenderism, etc. while promoting socialist and even communist ideologies. they have the right to their opinions and they can boycott whoever they want. But, they don’t have the right to impose their moral values on others while promoting a socialist agenda. We cannot survive if our society is reshaped by the liberal left’s view of a utopia that is socialistic, has thought police, and threatens a person’s livelihood if he or she doesn’t conform.

In my opinion, everyone has the right to protest, to agree with, to disagree with, and to urge others to join them in their cause. But, by what moral standard is such a protest justified, and what is the cost to our culture? I fear that the standard is secularism and the cost is our loss of freedom.

    Where will cancel culture stop?

Where will the downhill momentum of the cancel culture stop? Will churches be safe? Will Christians who oppose the liberal left agenda be censored, persecuted, and risk career setbacks? Will those leftists, when they gain even more power, promote and defend the rights of those who disagree with them as is guaranteed by the Constitution? Hardly! They will do whatever they can to silence the opposition with more oppression, more regulation, and less freedom. Is this what our country needs? No. Christians need to first drop to their knees then stand in opposition to the leftist, anti-biblical, cancel culture.

That's not really true. You have some extremes, but most people are just seeking a reasonable degree of respect. I used "JFC" recently and a Christian I know said that it was mean to say that. I said, "Sorry" and will try not to use it again. No big deal.
