    Fantasy wasn't big in the 80's.

    I mean, it looked corny and cheesy, even by the day's standards.  It was muppets and David Bowie and musical which seems like kid's stuff, but also kind of gothic and made parents think it was creepy or weird.

    I'm more surprised it became something of a cult classic than that it failed at the box office.
