Is it better do a LVN program and later bridge to RN or is it better to go straight through to RN? ?

It depends on your career goals, where you live, and what you would like to earn. 

Where I'm at, LPN is an excellent career choice. They usually earn 40k-50k/year and only need one year of schooling. (Plus you can move up in your career.) However, the main places that hire them are nursing homes and doctor's offices since they work cheaper than RNs. The coursework is rigorous and in depth (comparable to RN programs.) If your dream is to work at a hospital, go for RN.

RNs with associate's degrees can sometimes have issues landing jobs because they're competing with BSNs for hospital jobs. IF you get the job, you can expect a starting salary of 50k/year. But on the flip side, getting an associate's degree in nursing through community college might be cheaper than LPN school. (The only schools that offer LPN programs are trade schools.)

Talk to some people working in the field and figure out which path sounds more appealing. 

If you can I would do an ADN then bridge to a BSN if desired

They are the same in every state except Texas and California.

So you ever want to practice in one of those states you are better off getting an LPN since it's a higher level.

Your pros and cons might be a completely different list than mine.

Do your own research based on what you CONSIDER a pro and con. 

Not sure what an LVN is.  I went straight through to BSN.  Quicker
