I have two tattoos. One on my wrist and one on my neck. The pain level all depends on which part of your body you get the tattoo and your pain tolerance. I’d say that my wrist tattoo was a 3/10 and my neck was about a 7/10.

Different people experience the same painful stimulus differently. Some can deal with a painful medical procedure quite calmly. Some find the mild pain of removing a band aid to be excruciating.
Start out with getting a dot tattoo'd. How did you handle that? How did you handle the subsequent 2 weeks of healing? If getting a dot is a problem, then you probably don't want to get a whole tatt.

I have 42 tattoos and only noticed pain for the first few minutes with all but one. The pain afterwards can take a few hours to subside though. Ask the tattoo artist to do something small on your arm without any ink so you can see what it feels like, that way you can stop them at any time and you'll have time to think about getting inked.

to be completely honest - It hurts. A lot depends on the place you get a tattoo on and on your skins tolerance. I myself am scared of needles and pain, but I worked up the courage to get a duck tattooed on my wrist and I don’t regret it. Remember to think your decision through, since tattoo removal is way more painful.
