Are drugs always the slippery slope that they're portrayed to be or can one be successful while using them?

If you are in college you need to study.  When I did I never even drank.  You need to stay away from all substances in order to get your degree.  Do not use anything at all even alcohol.

No. It depends on what drug we are talking about, the person's genetics/circumstances and the social situation.

Most drug addicts are addicted to prescription medication from their physician. They are fully functional as long as their drug needs are being met.

Illegal drugs are dangerous because you do not know what they have been cut with - there is no such thing as quality control and no redress if it turns out that what you are taking contains rat poison or whatever. Better to work out why you feel the need to take drugs at all and address that. 'Success' is hardly that if your quality of life is so poor.

I tried weed for about a year and then I stopped and I had no problem stopping. I swear I had more addiction problems with brownies and videogames.
