Where should I live? (U.S)?

I’m a 20 years old female in college, I live in NC currently and i’d love to get an idea of a state or specifically a city to live in with some cheap housing, plenty to do, lots of unique attractions, nice people, bike friendly and warm weather all year long. Preferably either on the east coast or west coast. Thank you!

As soon as you said East Coast or West Coast, that limits your choices as cheap housing was also a criteria. Your best bet on the East Coast might be a neighboring state of South Carolina or Georgia near the coast. If you head north, your cost of living goes up and you get away from warm weather. On the West Coast, it's hard to find an inexpensive place in Cali, that's why so many of California residents are moving to Arizona, Idaho, or Texas. You might explore places in Oregon or Washington. They are also becoming expensive, but not as bad as Cali.

You really need to look at a state map, then drill down on localities. Then research those locations. For example Bend, OR is nice, but it is on the east side of the Cascade Mountains, not very close to the beach. But the positives might outweigh the negatives for you. Boise, Idaho has been getting good reviews, but they do have winter, but there appears to be lots to do even then. Best of luck.

Hi Lauren. As a "Southern States Expert",Travel Writer, and creator of https://embracesouthernstates.com/ I can make a few suggestions. These five have great food, art, growth, and excitement. My top 5 spots for you would include ((from East to West)): 1. Savannah, Georgia

    2. Tallahassee, Florida  3. Ocean Springs, Mississippi 4.Gulfport, Mississippi

    5. Lafayette, Louisiana.         Let me know what you think!

That doesn’t come with cheap housing kiddo. Anything along the coast will be expensive.

And you go where you get the job.

"Cheap housing" means you can't have the rest. You can live anywhere if you have a job/career that pays you the cost of living of the place.

San Diego, like all of southern California, has ungodly traffic at times. Otherwise it suits your list pretty well. California bashers have generally never been here and certainly never lived here.

    West coast is ungodly expensive.

Tucson is warm year round and has an incredible bike trail system called the loop.   Many pro bikers even go there to train for the winter.  Great hiking nearby as well.  Summers are hot but you can typically get an early morning  ride in before it gets too hot.  Sure beats snow.  Affordable housing is available but crime is a problem in some areas.  Just investigate the neighborhood you are considering before you move in, as is the case with most larger cities.

I mean, warm weather all year long and on the coast, you're pretty much limiting yourself to Florida or Southern California
