Could I have a mental problem? ?

I do have bad anxiety and depression, which I am getting help from, from my doctor. But here’s something I haven’t told her yet because I’m embarrassed, I feel like I have to clean all the time. Like, if I don’t my life will just get out of control. It makes me feel so uncomfortable if I’m sitting and not trying to find something to clean. It’s affecting me, I stay up all night trying to figure out how to rearrange things, and I get so frustrated I can’t even think where to start. I’m obsessed. With cleaning my room!! I am going crazy and the worst part is I can’t even think straight. I forget so much, I am anxious and nervous, and when I am talking a lot of the time I end up saying a word wrong. So I end up looking dumb. This is so embarrassing and honestly I’m scared, but I’m not sure what I’m even scared of and i dont know how to tell my therapist these ridiculous problems

Considering you described cleaning as all you can think about and you have anxiety from it

I would be tested for OCD

    No worries.  It's very manageable.

    Are you taking medication now?

Prozac is usually prescribed and very effective

Please come to my house and clean all you want.

If you are getting help for your issues, you need to discuss this compulsion with them as well.

This is a tough question. If this cleaning habit is helping you get over the depression, I guess it's best to do your cleaning thing and not worry about it till you're over the depression. If it really bothers you, talk about it with the therapist.
