CATHOLICS ONLY: Why do you bow down to statues when Exodus tells us not to?
I mean no offence to Catholics I myself am a Evangelical Christian, but I would like to know why Catholics bow down to statues when that it explicitly condemned in the 10 commandments in which God gave.

The Catholic Church dealt with all these issues and satisfactorily resolved them around 1500 years ago. You ought to study your history. God gave us those commandments but he also made exceptions to them, for his own purposes. The Ark of the Covenant, the Desert Tabernacle and all its' accoutrements, the first and second Temples in Jerusalem and all their finery, as well as the Brazen Serpent of Exodus all come to mind. That said, the Bible is a also classic example of a "graven" (engraved) image, as are illustrations, currency and coin, any type of sculpture, automobiles, aircraft, television images, computer images and more. Then, there's the idolatry connected with money, material goods, sex, fame and politics. Knowing what we now know about Jesus Christ being God, the real, flesh image of a heavenly thing, only a damn fool would worship any kind of an idol, rather than the living God, himself.

I'm not Catholic, but a huge part of my family is. They aren't worshipping idols, that is false gods. Idol worship in the days of Exodus involved creating a statue and worshipping it as if it was a god. That's not at all what's going on in the Catholic church. They honor saints and Christians who have accomplished great things, with respect and honor. It's really not much different from placing flowers and saying a few words at a grave site of someone you loved dearly. It's a little less gloomy, as it's assumed that these saints are still alive somewhere.
So, if Catholics honoring saints is idolatry, then so is carrying around pictures of your children, and pulling them out when you've been away from them for a long period of time and gazing lovingly at them and maybe even saying a few words.

Most Protestant churches and mega churches are pretty well appointed.
Nothing like the closet that Jesus said to pray in.

Catholics and Orthodox Christians use statues and icons as an aid to prayer. We don't bow down to them or pray to them any more than you speak to your computer. What puzzles me is why some American sects claim to be Evangelical when they prefer Hebrew folklore to anything Jesus said or did.

Catholics don't worship statues. It's no more against the commandments than kneeling in front of a cross is.
