Found this in a thrift shop, don't know what it is,?

Also, a sort of porcelain plug suspended by string from the lid hangs down inside, with a bundle of bamboo strips going through the handle-loops

I can't interpret the symbols so I can't tell if it's Chinese or Korean.
I've visited Korea 7 times. To me it looks like an Onggi, a Korean Kimchi pot.
Naturally, a larger Onggi would be used to ferment Makgeolli, Dongdongju, Kimchi or Sake. Since it does not have a spout a tea server would not be a good guess.
My best guess is these smaller containers would be used for the finished products of these beverages (except for Dongdongju which is served unfiltered (has rice "floaties" in it) and should be drunk fresh) for presents or serving vessels.
Since I do not understand the writing I would say it either is a label for the contents, a blessing or a traditional saying like "Cheers".
As a brewer, I always give away smaller containers of the brews I make.
I think it looks nice no matter what it's purpose. Good find.
