If you have them now. Did you ask why they weren't house broken. If they are 8 years old they can still be house broken, it will probably take longer. I am confused about their age that they are right now. I have Pomeranians. I took them out every 15 minutes when they were puppies. Some times sooner if they looked like they needed to go out. Since you work a lot of hours. have you thought of a dog sitter, or calling a Pet stores to see if they have a day care for dogs. Make sure you tell them that they are not house broken. Do not yell at them for doing their business in the house. be calm when you tell them they did wrong. And immediately take them outside and tell them this is where you go potty. Yelling at them just makes things worse and they don't feel safe.

umm if you are working right . you cant leave them at home alone 24 hours . you works from 5am -6pm that like full time job at least. you should had not get a dogs right now . because if these dogs arent train yet and lefting at home without you not being there with them not just come home during lunch time and then take them outside for use the bathroom.. if you have someone else living with you that can help you out when you are at work all day long hours then you wont have no problems. 8 year old dog isnt a puppy . you should had got them train before but there no blame for made mistakes but you dont need find a trainer to train your dogs to not pee or poop in the house when your not at home . before you go to bed, make sure before you get the dogs to bed .make sure you do these things make it easy for you and the dogs.
1. do these everyday ,
A . in the night time dont leave or give the dogs water after 10pm or they will pee everywhere in the house.
B. every morning you get up try to get up early before you get ready for work, make sure you take the dogs outside to go do their thing make sure they go before you bring them back inside.
C. if you have some time after work or any days you have days off .stop by the home depot ware house store or pet store that sells dogs kennels dogs house or a crate cage where can fit big , medium, small sizes dogs to go inside and stay in there for a whole day . but make sure you place potty training pads sheets in there in case you want to buy them a kennels to place in the backyard where has plenty of shades spots and keep them warmer and safe.
D. after they eating and drinking their foods and water .make sure you take them outsde or take them for a walk .
E. If you want to keep them inside of the house whole day, make sure place a clean puppy or adult dogs potty trains pads sheets by the doors or in the kitchen where there tiles floors so that the dogs can go on it pee or poop on it. when its dirty or wet you can throw it away and place another clean one, dont worried cant torn up or leak throught . if the dog is just small , medium sizes dont mind to wear a baby disapers on you can let the dogs wear ones make sure you poke a hole through the diapers for the dogs tails sticks out .
new ideas
1. its good to get safe doggies toys to keep them busy at home or dog treats chewing bone that they can chew on and play it when theyre at home alone. make sure not a chicken that has sharpe pointing end of it. just leave some foods and fresh full of water for them.
2.so make sure you take the dogs for potty bed getting up in the morning, make sure you take the dogs outside or take them for a walk to let them go pee n poop. make sure you dont leave poops any where ,where someone else step on it .
3. if you worried about the dogs make messed in the house . make sure you close your bedroom and bathroom doors closed because dogs get bored at home they end up going through the trash cans eat some things they shouldnt eating.
4.if you had a day off some time its good to take them outside of the house and take them to the park get plenty of exericse and after make the dogs feel tired ,stay healthy.
5.never hit your dogs if they made mess like pee in the house . always be calm and just a roller news paper dont hit them just be nice and tell them this no no that it..
6.bed times if the dogs sleeping with you . it better take them outside go bathroom first after dinner time, before bed time.
7. find dogs beddings good prices at these stores
walmart, target,Ross's less store, costco, home depot store, the petsmart store. or go online look for something else for make your new dogs happy not to over worried about what to stop by the stores,

I can see this situation being an 'out of the frying pan and into the fire' type situation for the dogs. I don't think living with you will be ideal for them (maybe better than what they have now if it's that bad) but you either need to give it a miss and if really necessary find someone else to help these dogs get what they need. You can still help them without being their new owner.
Unless you're willing to spend money on having a walking go in once or twice a day; it's not going to be much of a life for them. You must be sensible. Feeling sorry for a dog isn't a dog reason to take them on.
Even if you got a walker that wont solve house training because you need to BE around for that, even with a trainer, you'll need to keep the work up inbetween sessions otherwise you're wasting money.

You have to do the potty training. You can google 'how to potty train an old dog?' You can't get someone else to do it for you. You will be living with the dogs & it is up to you to do the training.
If you don't live on the ground level & have a yard for the dogs, don't get the dogs. You would just be taking them from one nightmare into another. I don't see how you can get these dogs if you don't have proper housing for them.
If the dog are used to peeing & pooping outside, you need to have outside very close & not have to take them long distances just to pee & poop. Their need is urgent & you need to train them to let you know when they need to go out. Out the back door very quickly to go potty.

You don't really give the information regarding the actual dogs you are concerned about, other than they are about 8 years old. Who owns the dogs? Why aren't they house trained? What breeds are they? Etc.
The first concern is the fact that you work a lot of hours. Even if you were there most of the time, it would be quite a chore to house train the dogs, and at age 8, it may never quite happen entirely. A dog of age 8 has had a long time of habitually eliminating inside the house.
Your time aside, a dog of 8, and not house trained would need to be in a cage and go through the entire house training routine until trained. This means being in the cage, letting dogs out at routine times, praising and treating. Unfortunately, if you are not at home, you will not be able to do this and the dogs could get sick by being confined for this period of time. They may also become anxious.
For dogs like this - if the current owner does not want to keep them - they might be able to go to an animal rescue league, where they would find a home with someone who has the time and ability to train them. This training could take some time, and patience, due to their age.
Besides that, the owner might check to be sure the dogs don't have bladder infections, which causes house training to be much more difficult. Once a bladder infection is cleared up, the dog can more easily control its need to eliminate often.
For a person working ten hours per day, having a fully house trained dog is not really a viable option. Training older, untrained dogs is nearly impossible.
Either take some time to play with these dogs, take them on walks when you are not at work, etc; offer to help the person take them to the vet for a check-up. Get a dog cage and help the owner house train the dogs. OR help the owner find a rescue league to take the dogs.
BUT - this person may be quite happy with their dogs in their house, despite this obvious issue. If it is a health issue for this person, and perhaps a relative or close friend, you might point this out and then offer the help noted above. But, don't expect too much cooperation.
If you personally want a pet, get a cat or a fish.

You are not in a position to have any dog/s and no one should 'rescue' just because of 'feeling sorry' for them that doesn't help them and you are putting them in a no better position working 10 hours a day or renting..so use your 'feeling sorry' for them by volunteering in your spare time to help a rescue organisation, either raising money for them so they can 'save' more pay for health care/kenneling and finding good quality homes, or by physically helping them by walking, cleaning kennels, grooming

Forget it.
Move on.If you can only rent an apartment and you work 10 hours a day, then any dog is going to have a dreadful and lonely life with you. End of.

If you work 10 hours a day you CANNOT house-train the dogs - if you are not home (It's that simple). So, you'd need a partner or live-in trainer to help with this. Or you'd need a different housing set-up (that you do not have). And being forced to be alone 10 hours a day & then still be alone (while you sleep) is a LONELY life for a dog.
If they are are in a shelter or rescue, then they are around people more than they would be WITH YOU. If they are not in a shelter or rescue - you can try to make arrangements to get them to one, instead of trying to adopt dogs into an inappropriate situation.

You don't have to pay to get a dog house trained, it's easy to do yourself, you point at the mess and yell at the dog, which is not cruel it's discipline. Then you reward the dog when the right place outside is used. They don't understand what you are saying but they do understand tones of voice.
