Adolph Hitler had several German Shepherd Dogs and they loved him. The breed was called Alsatians for a while to separate the breed from the German origin in people's minds. GSDs in WWII were used for much of the same jobs they do now: sentry, police, family protection, moving flocks.
Leonbergers were farm dogs. They pulled carts and watched out for intruders, but they've never been any good at police work. The Saint Bernard and Newfoundland temperament doesn't jive with the intensity needed in a K9.
Rottweilers were first droving dogs for the Romans. They moved the cattle during the day then guarded the herd at night. Since 1900, they have been used as police dogs in Germany and, for a short time, in the United States. During WWII they were used as sentry, guard and police dogs, as was the Doberman Pinscher.

They were used in World War II as messenger dogs, rescue dogs and personal guard dogs. A number of these dogs were taken home by foreign servicemen, who were impressed by their intelligence. The German Shepherd is one of the most widely used breeds in a wide variety of scent-work roles.

actually german shepherd breeds arent really from Uk , they are orginally came from germany and the breed dog is highly intelligent ,responsive and versatile. is probably amongst the most the familar and popular of all dog breeds, it originated in germany as a herding dog, but has since gone on to be employed worldwide by various police and military forces ,and used for search and rescue , as a guard dog ,a guide dog for the blinds and as a family companion . it excels at obedience and agility trails and also as a show dog . it was first shown in 1882 , and for many years it was exhibited in its various forms ,including white coated and long haired ,but these days only the short haired german shepherd dogs is generally accepted at dog shows and white is typically regareded as a disqualifying factor. however ,whilst white german shepherds became increasingly uncommon in Europe , they continued to proliferate in North America, and some authorities now recognized them as a distinct breed, designated as either the american white shepherd, or simply as the white shepherds. no german shepherds dogs never role in ww2. or such as other breeds . but in boot camps training yes german shepherd and rottweilers attendent in the military camps not all of them .just few . not in ww2 no longer. most those breeds are use to work on farms with herding farms animals and work with air force and police and fire fighters jobs and works with taking care of elderly seniors and retirement homes and hostipal and wheel chairs , disabities . handscapped

Protection, and to attack people escaping, to bark at invaders, or to intimidate Jews.
It's not the dogs fault and they are not nazi dogs.
I have had racist German shepherds though.
It's TRUE they dont like black people or asians.
Also they act stuck up around mixed breeds.(dogs)

Tons of articles on the subject = if you google the question. Try "use of dogs during WW2 by the Germans". Yes, they used other breeds (probably training over 200,000 dogs total). including the Weimaraner - who got the nickname "Gray Ghost' by carrying messages for the Germans (esp at night).
This link covers canine use by many groups (not just the Germans) during WW2=

The French have always called them Alsatians. Where did you find that the UK renamed the dogs? GSDs guarded concentration camps. GSDs were used to sniff out bombs on a VERY limited basis. No, other breeds weren't used.

To kill people. I mean they can't cook... They can't reload guns. They can't speak English. They are only good at killing people.
