    4

    m = 3/4, (x1, y1) = (-4, 5)

    point-slope form

    (y - y1) = m(x - x1)

    (y - 5) = (3/4)(x + 4)

    slope-intercept

    y = mx + b

    still know m

    b is the y value when x = 0

    (y - 5) = (3/4)(0 + 4)

    (y - 5) = 3

    y = 8

    y = (3/4)x + 8

    5.

    slope m is difference in y divided by difference in x

    You can either do (y1 - y2)/(x1 - x2) or (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

    It doesn't matter

    (8 - 12)/(6 - 4) = 2

    (-12 - 8)/(-4 - 6) = 2

    m = 2

    Same as above using point-slope

    (y - y1) = m(x - x1)

    (y - 8) = 2(x - 6)

    or

    (y + 12) = 2(x + 4)

    The question is for you to ponder:

    How are there 2 equations for the same line?
