How do I become an ag pilot?
Hello! I'm currently attending an aviation college, which is very focused on the airlines. I'm not very interested in going to the airlines though.
Currently, I have about 55 hours to go until I'm finished with commercial. I only have 3.5 hours of tail-wheel time, but I'm really enjoying it and plan on finishing the last 55 hours in the Citabria. Afterwards, I'll earn my multi engine add on and my CFI (It's part of the college program).
Although I'm still in training, I feel like I could be doing more to set myself up for the ag world. Right now, I'm just gathering as much information and networking as much as I can. I also currently live in Maryland, which doesn't appear to be a hotspot for ag pilots.
Does anyone have any advice? Would it be beneficial to attend an ag pilot program at a flight school? Are there any ag pilot schools that accept VA benefits?

Yes, you could have done a lot more to set yourself up for it right after you got your private license. GO TO AN AG FLYING SCHOOL. There are several. A clever lad might have done an internet keyword search to find them. Here: https://www.agaviation.org/flightschoolinformation
You definitelyneed to get a lot more tailwheel time AND some turbine engine experience. Also plan on working for an ag-operation in a non-flying position for a year or two on while you learn the ropes and work your way up while building flight time on the side any way you can. I guarantee that nobody is going to hire you with a fresh CPL and only 250 hours or so. You probably won't even be insurable.

Thanks! I have already talked to some ag flight schools and looked into the NAAA. I figured I'd post on here and see if anyone has any more helpful advice. I didn't think about getting some turbine experience, but I can see how that would be beneficial.
In the meantime, I'll keep flying the Citabria. Thanks for the advice,
