my dad went out and brought me a new PC and without informing me - here are the specs - is this any good ?

GameMax F15M ARGB Gaming PC Case

    AMD Ryzen 9 3950X 3.5GHz 16-Core CPU

ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F Gaming Motherboard

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 24GB GPU

    16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000MHz DDR4 Memory (2 x 8GB)

500GB WD Blue SN550 NVMe M.2 Solid State Drive

    1TB Seagate BarraCuda Hard Drive

I wanted a STRONG 'gaming PC' and i have no idea if this comes close.

i have zero idea about what specs are good for gaming ,  but he has zero idea of what specs are good pc should have period.

that said, this is hwat he picked up for me - a friend of his works at a pc shop and they make pc's.

a friend told me im lucky as this is a beast of a gaming rig,  at least for my needs.

i have no idea so thats why ive come on here to ask.

is this good ?

Your friend is right you should have no complaints whatsoever about the computer that you were given. It's an extremely powerful computer there shouldn't be any game that you should not be able to play very easily.

For right now you can consider yourself King of the Hill you probably have one of the most powerful computers in your city.  I'm a computer repairman in Statesboro Georgia so I can tell you what you've got you really ought to tell your dad thank you thank you.

Because he got you a really nice computer

We live in a place where PC gaming is everywhere. ... But here's the thing. My ... My dad won't get me new PC or laptop, I have asked for one so many ... made fun of, this is a old laptop, and I can't play any games or do any ... And I am not even asking for a good PC, only a $350 one with a Ryzen 5 2400g.

I'll laugh when DNA tells you he isn't your father. Thank your dad whether you have the highest bragging rights or not. Put the machine through it's paces and prove it to yourself. In two or three years you'll be whining for more. If I had the chance, I'd tell your dad to make you buy your own computer. Find a way to be productive and not just always playing games.

It's a very good PC considering how hard it is to find he 3090, but it was probably over priced.  The 3950X is a decent, but obsolete processor, but that was probably the only one they had in stock since you can't get the 5950X easily.

A machine of that specification is most gaming enthusiasts wet dream, but so ludicrously expensive few can afford it.

You could likely buy a small car for less than that cost.

Your dad went out and bought you a new computer. The normal response is, "Thanks dad!".

I agree with the first answerer.  This is highly suspect.  You want a "good gaming PC" and yet haven't done the research as to what parts makeup such a machine.
