Sweet f***-all these days if you haven't met the requirement they changed to a few years ago to have at least 1000 subscribers + 4000hrs a year of watchtime + been checked by YouTube to ensure you're considered "advertiser friendly".

Should you meet the requirements to get monetised, then how much you might get paid is complicated further by things like advertising value of keywords... for instance "funny cat video" is usually only worth a few pennies at best while things like money / cars / fashion / celebrities can be worth a couple of $'s.

There are online calculators to have a rough stab at estimated potential earnings

    It depends.

In order to get paid, you need to meet certain minimum requirements: 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 public watched hours within 12 months of your posted videos. This is just to qualify your account's videos to be "monetized".

Then, the advertisers who want to be on your channel start bidding on getting their ads on your content. Then there is a calculation that includes the amount of time the ad remains in front of the eyes of the watcher (or if they skip the ad and how many people watch the ad without skipping). Typically $0.001 per view, sometimes it can be more. That's 1/1000 of US penny.

These minimums have been in place for a few years. Before that, there were no minimums... I had 1 video up that has had enough views that resulted in a $80 check being sent to me. At the time, I think I had (and still have) a couple of hundred subscribers and a little less than 1,000 hours viewed in the last 12 months. Since I don't have 1,000 subscribers or more than 4,000 hours viewed in 12 months, I no longer get paid - but I use the platform to display the results of my video hobby... but my account qualifies for monetization so if I get some video posted that gets lots of views and subscribers, then I can start getting paid again.
