What is the difference between a documentary and a historical drama?

    Historical drama usually means that a bunch of luvvies got it wrong.

    One is based on strict facts.  One is made stretching the facts to make it watchable.

    A historical drama is "based on" actual events.  This means there is a little fact and a lot of theater.  A documentary contains all facts as they are understood by the writers.
