Tax Refund Question?

My tax return is pending to be deposited tomorrow in my bank account, however when I check the where's my refund on the IRS website, it shows it still at return received(the first of three status bars). So is the IRS website just behind or what's going on?

Update:

I work as an accountant at a credit union, I can see what is pending in my own account, that's all the information I can give out. The IRS is rolling out returns to people with direct deposit starting Monday. We can see this ahead of time where I work- again I will not discuss any further details of my work as it is confidential.

The WMR tool is pretty much useless. it was created years ago to try to get people to stop calling the IRS helplines just to ask for the status of their refund and the IRS has made no improvements to it over the years.

It is frequently slow to update or just outright wrong. Its fine to check it if that helps put your mind at ease but don't stress out about it.

Updates to Where’s My Refund Status Delayed for Some

The Where’s My Refund app may show “Return Received,” even if we’ve already issued your refund. Your refund will not be delayed. There’s no need to call the IRS.

Unless the IRS site is telling you that you are getting it tomorrow, not sure where you are getting that info from.

The second round of Covid-19 relief payments may be pending. NO tax refunds have been approved yet. Either you misunderstood what you read, or your source FLAT OUT LIED.

Same thing is happening to my refund.  I can see that it is a "pending" transaction to go into my bank account but the IRS site has not updated yet.

This has happened on other years too.  I have seen it before.

"So is the IRS website just behind or what's going on?"

That would seem to be a logical conclusion.   I guess you'll find out.
