Another example might be: you can stay at home, never take a risk, and be very safe - - but you will miss much of the excitement of life. Or - you can skydive, climb mountains, race cars if you accept the risk that you might be hurt or even killed. As in all things, the middle path is the sensible course: moderation in all things.
