My mind has to constantly be stimulated or else I’ll get anxious or depressed ?

Why does my mind have to be constantly stimulated or entertained. I’m someone or something is not entertaining me my mind will wander off and start becoming anxious or depressed. Is this normal or is this a mental health problem?

    Are you being mentally physically emotionally or religiously abused? This is what causes anxiety. Sometimes if you feel suicidal it's because someone else wants you to commit suicide.

    Was your mother consuming alcohol or using drugs while she was pregnant with you? 

    I'm serious. 

    P.S.  Oh, I see that you are female.  No offense, but it might be related to estrogen!  Are you a teenager??

    This happens to me as well. It could be a number of different things depending on the person, such as ADD/ADHD, caffeine, or being a bored intellectual. Humans are social / constructive creatures so if we aren't doing something we feel is productive we tend to become depressed, bored, anxious, or feel hopeless. Try to acknowledge how you're feeling but remember to rationalize with yourself that you're just understimulated for the time being and everything will be okay. The body tends to move and feel instinctively.

    I'm sorry you don't know how to be bored.   It's a product of developing with screens on instead of off.

    Coupled also with the regular American diet totally corrupting your dopamine pathways, which certainly exacerbates it.

    Start only eating whole foods and drinking only water, unsweetened teas and unflavored milk.   In less than a month,  you'll feel drastically better (and the losing fat will also help) and after,  start seeing a therapist to correct what was incorrectly programmed into your brain.

    A mental health problem is a condition that gives distress to oneself or others. If this causes trouble for you, it's a problem.

    Go to youtube and look up "mindfulness".  Also try some meditation.

    At least one trip to the doctor.  You might have depression or anxiety.

    There's not really a normal.  If it interferes with you life, then it's a problem.
