Do we want a nation where 35 year old's live at home?

My brother (he's 32) has two Master's degrees,

one in Business and the other in Mathematics

and he still can't afford to move out. As for me,

I gave up looking for a decent-job. There aren't

any without a Master's degree in Los Angeles, CA.

I mean, that’s pretty normal everywhere else on the planet. However, no, I don’t want a nation in which 35 year olds have to live at home with their parents due to lack of opportunities and a weak economy.

Also, your brother is in Los Angeles. I am too. I was able to afford a house 3 years ago, but only after getting a PhD and two Master’s degrees and making a six-figure income for a decade. Even still, it is hard to get by.

I find out Wednesday if I got a position in Alabama, where if I sold my house here I could buy three (of course I am not going to, though). I suggest your brother take my lead and jump off the sinking ship.

The problem stems from pushy parents that put pressure on their kids to get to the highest level of education possible. So the US is breeding generations of people who have no idea how to do manual work, and can't get a job because the vacancies they chase are so over subscribed. The US's manufacturing requirement has been consistently handed to China, and that is why in the next few years, China will become the most powerful nation in the world, both financially and militarily.

I cannot imagine that an MBA can't land even a manager position in a subsidiary of a large and talent hungry organization. I mean like the produce manager at Whole Foods. Carefully examine if your family lacks opportunity or motivation.

You should have become a plumber or carpenter.

Such skills will always be needed

Even in the worst of times.

The only hope is in God. From the look of it, Los Angeles has left God. Seeing as how I live not far from Seattle, though, I know that there are always individuals who are willing to go against the flow of culture  to stand for the truth no matter the cost. Make sure you are one, then trust God to take care of the rest.

I have a high school diploma.

I have been married for 33 years and raised 2 children on an income that has never been above $60,000 per year.

We own our home - we own two vehicles - our daughters both went to college

We did NOT use welfare programs.

I also live in a state with a lower cost of living.

Sounds like you need to move to a cheaper state.

  • American dream is pretty much dead in California due to high inflation, he can try other states like Texas.

Perhaps if you all did not live in one of the most expensive cities in the US, you would do better.  How about moving to a place with lower cost of living and lower taxes?
