    The roots tell us that the vertex is at x = 3 (right in the middle of the two roots).

    Using vertex form:

    y = a(x - 3)^2 + k

    Plugging in x = 3 + √2

    0 = 2a + k

    Plugging in x = 1

    -8 = 4a + k

    Subtracting these two equations gives:

    8 = -2a

    a = -4

    Substituting to find k

    -8 = 4(-4) + k

    -8 = -16 + k

    k = 8

    y = -4(x - 3)^2 + 8
