Plug in timer for aircon?
Is it safe to use an external plug in timer for an airconditioner?
I live in HK, we use three pin plugs like in the UK, running 220v. My landlord was to cheap to get anything with a timer. The airconditioner plugs into a wall socket right next to it up high on a wall.
I've used those timers in the past on appliances like fans and dehumidifiers. I don't know if an airconditioner, which draws a lot more power, is safe to use with those things.
this is a wall type air conditioner

Find a timer with an amp rating higher than the max amp rating of the AC. The timer will only work to turn OFF the AC. It cannot be used to turn it ON. It will be just better to use the timer setting on the AC remote itself if it has one.

It WON'T WORK. The A/C is not designed to come on when power is available. In addition, most plug in timers can't handle the load of an A/C.

READ the amp rating on the a/c and also on the timer ... you NEED the timer to be rated for more amps than the a/c draws
