Isn't "consent" a good thing according to 1 Corinthians 7:5?

Yes, but that's really not what it's talking about.  Husbands and wives should not deny one another sex as long as both are healthy enough for it, except for short times that both agree on to get something important done.

There are times when marriage mates may have to deprive each other of the marriage due.

This might be true of the wife at certain times of the month or when she is feeling very tired. It may be true of the husband when he is dealing with a serious problem at work and feels emotionally drained.

Such cases of temporary suspension of rendering the marriage due are best handled if both partners frankly discuss the situation and agree by mutual consent. 1 Corinthians 7:5

This will prevent either partner from jumping to wrong conclusions. If, though, a wife willfully deprives her husband or if a husband deliberately fails to render the marriage due in a loving way, the partner may be left open to temptation.

In such a situation, problems may arise in a marriage.

Notice that it cuts both ways. The body is surrendered by both parties as 'communal property' between the two. They are, after all, 'one flesh.'

That is why early on each family in America only cast 'one' vote in politics. It wasn't because 'men' were deemed superior to 'women,' it was because married people were 'one creature made from two.' That was taken literally.

GOD takes it literally too. How can you 'not consent' to yourself?

I supposed you can 'fight with yourself' at times, but the only way to view consent as distinct is to deny GOD's claim that sexual union spiritually makes us one new creature with equal parts male and female traits.

By denying this, non-Christians were then able to instantly double the voting registration while overwhelmingly convincing women to 'side' with them over their husbands for 'social justice.'

The devil is a sneaky bastard. Now he is using race, birth class and 'new gender designations' for 'social justice.' It never ends when you disobey GOD.

In marriage, yes. I think that's what Paul meant.

    1 Corinthians 7

Now for the matters you wrote about: “It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman.” 2 But since sexual immorality is occurring, each man should have sexual relations with his own wife, and each woman with her own husband. 3 The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. 4 The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife. 5 Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

The consent is agreed to as a condition in the relationship. And it's a good thing, I have experienced that, though I'm not pretending to be married. It's a freer form of standing agreement, it works well, in my experience. If someone has a problem going on (a cyst, too tired, headache, etc.), abstaining is necessary. But the open agreement is that I am constantly approachable otherwise, and so is she. The point is that you care about each other, and you are open to being approached.
