How is covid19 effecting your country?

I am curious as I am Australian

We can count our lucky stars being so secluded and out of the way that we forsaw the pandemic before it even started and our country has responded extremely well, in terms of size we have done exceptional.

We had a few lock downs, but now life is pretty much back to normal, you can't travel, but sporting events are back to normal, we can have somewhat a normal life still.

It makes me wonder what is happening in other countries? Like America, is the economy still going? What's it like day to day? Any differences to before ?

We are currently averaging a little under 60,000 confirmed new cases per day and 968 deaths per day. Things are gradually relaxing in many places and vaccinations are on-going but not yet available to everyone.

Didn't you notice your news channels aren't discussing what's happening around the world? It's the same in the UK. Our government just voted to allow themselves to impose liberty restricting laws for another 6 months. Yet this wasn't even mentioned in the BBC news! They're all scared to death we'll just say we've had enough and will have a civil war. There are demonstrations, but they hardly get any news coverage, and the numbers attending are vastly undercounted when mentioned. We know the government is lying to us, but most of the population are being conned in to believing them. If we're good we might be able to go to the pub in a few weeks, but they want everyone to be vaccinated, even though it's only affecting those over 80 and the unwell. Small businesses are collapsing, people aren't getting medical appointments, people are committing suicide. We've been under lockdown virtually for the last year. Rules are contradictory and never explained. I bet you didn't even post this question in the travel section.

we are so lucky here in australia ..only reason is that we are an island  ..some states are more sensible than others  and if  it was not for the fact we are an island we would  be in the same boat at other countries

    Canada...

Never had a lockdown.  Stores and services limited access greatly, masks became manditory... government started handing out benefits, eg if you not working due to covid you could cash in... bribery to practice social distancing.

    Closed the border...

We can gather outdoors in groups of up to 10 now, so i'd imagine a lot of guys are building tall backyard fences; i've been watching a lot of ozzieman videos!
