    False.

    British-derived Americans, from the puritans or otherwise, are a minority, and have been for WELL over a century.

    And there were signs it was coming LONG before it happened. In fact, when we were still backward and primitive enough to play around with the ridiculous idea of an "official language," Benjamin Franklin (the guy on the $100 bill) suggested that it be German, not English.
