Was it wrong for me to tell these people to wear a mask?

I was at the gym and a family was going around to tour the gym. They were not even exercising, and were not even wearing a mask. I told them "you have to wear a mask here" and one of them snapped at me and told me "those people on the treadmill are not wearing a mask."

If you don't wear a mask in a mask mandated business sometimes people will tell you to wear a mask, but most of the times they won't. That said, they should be prepared for rude stares or people telling them to mask up. Its that simple.

    WHY SHOULD THEY WEAR MASK?

WHO WANTS TO BE AT THAT BUILDING WHERE THE PEOPLE WHO OWN IT WANT VISITORS TO WEAR MASKS?

Whether other people are wearing masks or not is completely irrelevant. If the rules require you to wear a mask, you wear a mask, particularly if you are asked/told to do so by the business.  If a business has a rule that everyone should wear a mask, it is perfectly OK for any mask-wearing customer/client to remind others of this fact. If people refuse to wear masks after being asked, you should tell management about them and ask that they be told to mask up or leave.
