Why are certain PC sounds almost inaudible?
I've tried adjusting my PC's sound levels and volumes, but I can't seem to figure out exactly why some audio is hard to hear despite the volume. It seems to mostly occur in Youtube videos, but audio that is deeper or quieter than most just seems hard to hear. I'm not sure if it's just something with my PC or headphones or if there's a setting or adjustment I could make to fix it. Any help or input would be great!

you have crappy speakers/headphones. most laptops' speakers suck.
either invest in some decent headphones or USB speakers.

Unfortunately, my friend, YOU have no control over the settings used by the uploader. i.e. if they don't record their video(s) with adequate volume settings then you WILL have difficulty in hearing those sounds.

The most likely thing is having some audio settings with "surround" or "5.1" or similar enabled, when you do not have the exact matching surround speakers connected.
With surround enabled, a lot of audio is routed to the front centre channel - and without anything physically connected to that, those sounds are lost, or very faint, in other channels.
