Can I live off of 24k/year (with some support)?

I'm currently a full time college student living with my parent. Considering dropping out and applying to be a pharmacy technician which only requires high school. A quick google search says starting salary is 24k annual.

I'll probably have a few years to save up my salary while living with my parent (21k after taxes approx). I'm pretty sure I'll be inheriting a fully paid off house so those bills are covered. I'm not sure about other bills but its Houston, TX which shouldn't have as high a living cost as other places.

Will 24k/year be enough? with a head start of savings?

I really wonder about your numbers.  $24K is $461 a week.  Assuming 40 hours, that is only about $11 an hour.  That seems pretty low.  Restaurant workers often start out at that rate.

Well, that is your STARTING salary.  You hopefully will continue to advance and earn more.  You do understand that taxes in Texas are pretty high.  Not sure how much this house is worth, but taxes and insurance on my home (valued around $300K) are about $9,000 a year.  Then you have your utilities, food, clothing, etc.  Also, the $24K is BEFORE TAXES.  Your take home pay would be around $300 a week.

You could probably get a roommate or two to help.

In short, you seem to think that the decision you make right now is set in stone for the rest of your life.  Take it one step at a time.  Find a job as a tech and start saving money.  Look into college programs that might help you to advance and earn more.

If you are in any major city in the US, you cannot survive on $24k. For example, the poverty line in Orange County, CA is around $82k. You would be making 1/4th of that. Houston is markedly less expensive but still not a quarter of the cost of living of California.

Why not become a pharmacy tech and go to school part time?  Get a PharmD and make $200k a year.

don't trust google, in my state a pharm tech is barely above minimum wage.  there is a 2 year college degree where you might get more.

look up actual jobs in your area and see what pay they are offering.

are you planning on offing your parents or grandparents to get a house quick?

you need to write out a budget...start looking at rent prices.  see what the property tax would be on the house you will inherit...find out what utilities run...
