Why on earth would a female athlete think they should get the same pay as a male athlete when women's sports don't generate the same money?

Womens sports are not as heavily promoted as mens sports. They are promoted as much and they aren't covered in the media as much. You can't blame womens sports for not generating revenue when the male sports promoters do not promote them. 

Megan Rapinoe is not an obscure female soccer player.  Even you know of her.

Professional sport is entertainment, people pay way too much to watch it and the players get payed way to much to play it.  Having said that, just because a woman plays the game (and she plays it well) she shouldn't be paid less.  She is paid even less than professional male players who sit on the bench and rarely get to play.  And the women made it to the Olympics, something the male team failed to accomplish...

Because it's stupid societal crap and less respect for women's teams that makes it that way, not the actual potential value of those teams and players...
