A diffraction pattern forms when light passes through a single slit. The wavelength of the light is 537 nm. Determine the angle that locates the first dark fringe when the width of the slit is (a) 3.5 × 10-4 m and (b) 3.5 × 10-6 m.

Single slit, destructive: D*sinΘ = m*λ
(a) 3.5e-4m * sinΘ = 1 * 537e-9m → → Θ = 0.088º
(b) 3.5e-6m * sinΘ = 1 * 537e-9m → → Θ = 8.8º
