What are some examples of life stresses?

Anything from the mundane and trivial (can opener broke halfway through opening the can), can't find your keys because they fell between the cushions on the sofa, to the severe and extreme (witnessing a cop kneel on some poor guy's neck until he dies), and all points in between.  Catching every red light on the way to work when you are already late, say. 

How can I pay all these bills when I lost my job?  I paid all my bills but now I am broke so what I am going to eat?  Those can be pretty important life stresses.
