How many alcoholic beverages do you consume at a social event or party? And is it common for some to stick to no more than 3 drinks?

Very common to have 3 drinks max at a party. That's among adults of course. A frat party or kegger with kids is liable to be much more drunken.

More like 10.    

Depends if I am at home or out.   Depends if I have to drive home.  Depends if I have to work the next day.  Depends on what they are serving.   Depends if I expect to get lucky later that evening.   But usually I do not drink more than two drinks.  

That's called social drinkers. I go to parties to wasted and drink til I puke sometimes. Lol

If I'm out at a social event or party I'll have 1-3 drinks, never more, as I'm probably driving.

These days, I'd be unlikely to have more than 2 drinks. I know people who consume no alcohol at all.

Depends on how serious the event is. If VERY serious, I order ONE bottle of Michelob, drink it and refill it with water all night long. 

I’m an antisocial drinker. I don’t want to say something dumb in front of friends. DUI’s now cost several thousand dollars, and would also cost me my professional license. I only drink at home while alone.

1 an hour and no more than 3 in an evening. Being drunk is not an attractive look and can lead to all sorts of problems.

2 drinks is my max

When I was with my wife, I seldom had more than 2 as I was driving and she liked to get feeling good.  If I am not driving, then likely 6 or so, but I am a pretty cheap drunk.
