Why do I get Butterflies in my stomach when doing gymnastics in school?
I am 11 and I get so nervous doing gymnastics that my belly feels like it's doing somersaults when I am changing into my p.e kit! When we do handstands and cartwheels my heart is pounding and usually we have to do a handstand and our teacher holds us for 3-5 seconds and I literally am terrified and my tummy is all sickly and flip flopy! I think I am scared of going upside down I hate going upside down cause it is scary!
Two weeks ago our teacher was telling us to do Handstands in groups of two while your partner holds your feet and I put my hand up and said "Miss do I have to go upside down it is scary?" And my teacher just said "being upside down doesn't matter" lol! If it doesn't matter why am I feeling so nervous with butterflies in my tummy!
I hate gymnastics! Lol!

When I was a teen, I raced motorcycles and always got 'butterflies' and a somewhat upset belly while waiting in line to start. If I was riding well that day, I would feel even more upset. However, racing is dangerous and you can be killed, not so much in beginner gymnastics. Concentrate on your timing and functions in such a way that results in firm & safe flips and landings. If you are feeling the butterflies, it means you are getting good at it and you know it. Note: you do not have to do anything that endangers you!
