What is the purpose of this right angle slant in this room?

Its the top left room. The right angle slant is in top left corner of 2nd pic.

I don't think the bed is facing the front window.

I don't understand why the architecture would require a right angle slant

That's the roof (including insulation, etc.)

    The slant of the roof

The "slant" does not run across the entire room (forward to back)

because of the dormer, which we see opens up a space at the left of the foot of the bed.

If the camera were to pan slightly to the left

we would probably see the window of the dormer in the "open space" on the left.

That's the extreme left end of the roof. The dormer (the popout section with the window) is an architectural hack to make attic space more liveable.

"right angle slant" ?? what in the world does this mean. A right angle is not a slant.
