Because the voices in your head say so. The voter ID laws are racist because they are designed to target minorities.

Are there any other Constitutional rights being denied on the basis of "You haven't been successful in your individual efforts to comply with burdensome regulation"?

No matter how much MOST people can get ID easily and cheaply, even ONE person unable to vote because unable to fulfil the "get your real ID" requirements is too many. As a middle aged white professional, I spent at least $1000 getting my "real ID" for Florida, missed work over and over, had to travel around the state, had to hire a detective, had to pay for affidavits. I was fortunate in that I had a dependable car, had an employer willing to allow missed days, had no child care responsibility that prevented travel, had the computer and language skills to navigate the systems, had the life experience to know how to go about fulfilling the requirements, had the $1000 to spare. I can only imagine how insurmountable similar obstacles would be to a person with no car, little money, no options for missing work, small children at home, and no knowledge or experience of finding people and securing affidavits from them.

And what do I hear when I tell my tale of trouble? "But that just CAN'T be true!"  You tightie whitey righties live in your own little bubble where inconvenient truths "just CAN'T be true."

Apparently that is all you have to talk about that even comes close to being defensible.  There is nothing inherently racist about IDs.  It is all about how they are used.  And given that racism is action by definition (negative attitudes expressed through actions yet without any basis except race), that is what you need to discuss, yet you do not.

So sure, keep pretending that changing voting laws has nothing to do with trying to restrict votes from people that will be targeted by unequal enforcement of laws and unequal provision of opportunities.  We see the truth and the real purpose.  No one seems to even bother trying to hide it: make it hard for people to vote for the other side, especially those black folks whose voting has been targeted for elimination for the entire history of the nation.

When I voted by mail-in ballot I had to submit my name, address, date of birth, last 4 digits of my SS number or driver's license number, and these were checked with state databases, and once confirmed a ballot was sent to my address I listed. Now I need a special ID? please
