It is pretty common. The vast majority of viewers who watch the comic book films never read the comics themselves.

I'm right there with you. I am a fan of the MCU but never read any of the comics.

The majority of movie fans never check out the other media no matter what it is. Cartoons, comics, games, most people just watch the movie and stop there. As for me I'm a fan of comic movies because I was a fan of comics first, but its totally ok to just be a fan of the movies.
