    universal-->unconditional

    It would give employers an incentive to treat their personnel well.

    It would give the unemployed an incentive to accept part-time jobs.

    It would give people who have a job the option of reducing their own hours, freeing up work for others.

    the fear that millions of people would choose to "do nothing" for years or decades is unfounded. People who want luxuries will still have to work for them.

    No I don't because that money has to come from somewhere. That somewhere is taxpayer's money. Providing UBI to everyone will only encourage people to work less thus diminishing the tax base. Gary, society works best when we ALL do our part and fair share that includes you.

    It would hurt the economy and create a widening inequality.

    There are a lot of people who would try and live off $1000 a month especially big families who live in a single house. That means there would be a lot fewer people willing to work which means the economy would produce a lot less.

    No.

    This idea and the 10% income tax idea has been around a long, long time.

    What DOES WORK?  Building the economy from the bottom up.  When working Americans have good jobs that pay a living wage, they use their salaries to buy other American goods and services.  This gives a job to other workers and we all do well.

    Trickle Down Economics never works.

    Never.  It’s rooted in the belief that zero productivity should be rewarded and high productivity should be punished.  It will be a very short trip down a destructive path.

    I'm sure it would be fine and dandy for the freeloaders

    Yes if it's not done in a neoliberal way (i.e., privatization).  Working people will get additional money.
