I’ve never been on the Quora site, so need to know the basics on how to use it. How might Quora be used in place of Yahoo Answers?

You could just try it. It forces you to use a real name, though, so maybe not.

There are less trolls--it is more strictly moderated and a more serious place than Answers is. Many questions that have been posted here would not be allowed on Quora.

I signed up yesterday under my real name, Helen Heels, and started following British Royal Family Fans and The Markles. I've had trouble adding comments. The site is very glitchy. 

It's not at all like YA, is structured entirely differently and is carefully moderated.  Moreover, most participants use their real names, and the answers are generally expected to display serious knowledge and expertise.

I suggest that you just go take a look, but you'll find that Quora is a very different place.

You might try Answerbag instead.  It appears to involve much more moderation than YA ever did, but it's closer in type.

The good thing about Quora is that there are no trolls. It is quite strictly policed.

On the downside there are lots of very self pretentious, patronising people ready to answer your question.
