Why do attractive women want to date truly ugly men?

Such women may genuinely not prioritize physical attractiveness, or they may be willing to accept it as a trade off for wealth, social status, penis size, or sexual prowess (or any combination of such traits).

Shut up!  

I'm GLAD beautiful women will date ugly guys like me, and I DON'T want *you* talking too much about it and making them think twice, and maybe changing their minds.

Men writ large have given "attractive" women carte blanche to do basically whatever they want (only to then complain about it later). So I guess the short answer is that hot chicks get the pick of whomever they want and sometimes that might be a "truly ugly" man. 

Opposites attract. 

My guess is that they know the guy will worship her and won’t cheat because he knows he can’t get any girl hotter than her. Look at all the ugly guy, hot girl marriages: Rick Ocasek and Paulina Porizkova, Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed, Lyle Lovett and Cindy Crawford, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi. Did anyone of them cheat on her. Nope. How rare is that in Hollywood that a guy doesn’t cheat on his wife.
