Sound is like peeing your pants. Everyone can see it, but only you can feel its true warmth.

Sound is what our ear converts waves in the atmosphere into. The waves are only waves until they are processed. Sound is a concept.

Linguistically we differentiate between concrete and abstract: a concrete noun names something you can perceive with your senses; an abstract noun names something you cannot.  Sound is perceivable and perforce concrete.

Apparently you've never taken a basic class in physics. Sound has measurable, physical effects, therefore it's more than a concept. Hint: If you hope to be successful as a writer, never write about things you do not know about. Consulting YA does not constitute real research.
