Since WW2, Americans had a sincere faith in the ethical unquestioning righteousness of government. After Vietnam and Watergate, the public changed their minds.

The Vietnam war and Watergate were very big and important events in modern American history. On both these huge important events it was revealed beyond all doubt in the 1970's that the US government from the President on down and everyone at the top had been lying to the American public/ the Congress/ media all along from day 1 and laughed and joked about doing so, considering the public/voters just stupid jerks to be used and cheated.

Needless to say this caused public opinion of US government to fall huge from positive and trust to negative and distrust and for some of the public opinion collapse to hate of government.

Most Americans didn't think it was worth it to get involved in Vietnam, but the government didn't listen and implemented mandatory conscription. Obviously people didn't appreciate their sons being drafted to go and die on the other side of the world for questionable aims. Watergate was a clear example of how politicians are not above the law and shouldn't be exempt from facing consequences when they do something illegal.

Vietnam was a war that we had no intention of winning, and Watergate showed us that a corrupt government will lie, cheat, and steal, and then sacrifice their own to get away with it.

If they are our government, they have to guarantee the right values.

If a Vietnam veteran demanded I purchase a kilo of heroin and sold it to persons who were considered an expense to government while a source of profit for healthcare sectors, I could literally beat their *** and the other veterans would know it was right. Expect them to pay the bill for the harm to the people.

In Vietnam, they would call that value paranoid delusions and defer to mental health.

What today's government employees have tried to hide, is that influx of heroin was projected, and the reason it was projected eventually did happen. Schools out.

Too bad they're closing Q & A. It just got interesting.
