Is a 12-16 hour fasting considered unhealthy?
I do not really fiddle with diets, counting calories etc, because I've always been border-line slim. Now I'm normal weight.
But the last half decade, I think I subconsciously do the shorter fasting, because I sleep 8-12 hours per night and then don't eat until 2-4 hours later because I simply can't eat when I'm drowsy. I usually start the day with a cup of coffee or liquid based food (like fruit smoothie). This eating habit is similar to the 16/8 fasting.
During the daytime, apart from snacks, I eat pretty health food, not fast food.
But this habit sounds unhealthy? For reference,I'm 32, female who never exercise and around 130-135 ibs, so I don't care much if i end up loosing or gaining a few pounds. But people often assume you've eating disorders because you don't eat breakfast. I don't starve myself, just eat when I'm hungry and opt for non-fast food meals (Salmon, chicken, omelette, pancakes, Meat stew etc NOT Mcdonals or Pizza)-

You sound perfectly normal. I'm not a breakfast person either - never have been. People have different metabolisms. I genuinely believe that some people need to eat every few hours to keep their blood sugar stable while at the other extreme some people do best with a single meal. I'm a two meal person and never eat before 10 am, tea only in the morning. If you're getting enough calories and nutrients and are otherwise healthy carry on eating intuitively to your body clock. Don't let other people make a song and dance about it, just change the subject to something more interesting.

No, Intermittent fasting is not considered unhealthy. In fact, consider that MANY people do it unintentionally - a lot of folks eat supper around 6PM ish and may not eat breakfast until 8 AM or later, so that's 14 hrs of 'fasting' right there, without making a specific effort to do so.

FYI, whatever your first meal of the day is, after you wake up from your 8 - 12 hrs of sleep, is "breakfast" (for everyone). It literally is the meal that breaks your overnight fast (regardless of what time of day you consume it).
