According to Trumpees, Matt Gaetz did nothing wrong, so why is he looking to strike a plea deal with prosecutors?

Because EVERYTHING lying ignorant tRumpees say is patently false. Matty will settle for 10-15 years.

The fact is, there are MANY people who will accept a plea bargain even knowing they're innocent. If you're prosecuted for something and you have to depend on a public defender, he will almost always suggest a plea bargain. A majority of criminal matters are settled by plea bargaining, to save court costs and time.
But in Gaetz's case it does look suspicious, since he can well afford to defend himself. In fact most of his defense would probably be paid for by the GOP.
Also consider that a person with Gaetz's political clout could probably plea-bargain rape down to 6 months' probation. Then go on all the GOP news services and insist he's entirely innocent and was railroaded by 'liberals'.

Again, Gaetz simply needs to state "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" and all of this goes away. Tried and true defense.

Your OCD is in the red zone.
There's ZERO evidence of Gaetz' misconduct.

His associate, not Gaetz, you are a bit confused. But I do agree that he may plead to something down the road. Really the only thing he may have done was had sex with a consenting 17 year old. But he bought her things, paid for her to travel across state lines. He denies having sex with her of course, but all this stems from if he did.
