Should the U.S. government get rid of "sin taxes" and excess taxes since they target the poor?

    There are not many US Federal taxes of that sort.

    Sales taxes in the US are charged by states.

    I agree that consumption taxes affect the poor and middle class, because they are not based on ability to pay.

    Progressive income based taxes are the fairest ones.

    I assume you mean "excise" taxes, and I don't think you know what you are talking about it. "Sin" taxes are almost entirely at the state level.

    maybe the poor should stop sinning so much if they are poor.
