First find the slope:
m = rise/run
m = ∆y / ∆x
m = (y₂ - y₁) / (x₂ - x₁)
m = (27 - 9) / (7 - 4)
m = 18 / 3
m = 6

y = mx + b
where b is the y-intercept
To find "b" (the y-intercept)
Plug in m = 6 and either point
using point (4, 9)
9 = 6(4) + b
9 = 24 + b
Subtract 24 from both sides
-15 = b
