Okay, 7 years into this, who else is more than a little sad that regardless of how crappy yahoo answers has become...its ending this month? ?

Yes, I'm a little sad.  I started using this site in early 2008, and anytime something that endures for several years ends, it becomes a reflective milestone from which to look back on.  In that time I've left a job, gone through several vehicles, built a garage, had a heart attack, lost my mother, two sisters, three pets, several friends and worst of all, the Love of My Life.  Sometimes mindlessly losing myself in answering questions was a way to help cope with some of that in a small way.

I think the peak years for Y!A were 2009 to 2013, and then it began to slip away, abetted by too much righteous Hall Monitoring, the 2014 Green-to-Purple changes and the inattention by Yahoo in 2015/16 that left the site hacked open to disgusting trolling for months at a time.  That's when I left, only returning occasionally once a year or so for a few days.

Every dog has its day, but most dogs only live 15 years before the long last ride to the vet takes place.  We're sitting in the back seat with old Rover right now with his head on our lap as the world goes by outside the window.  It's hard to even see the road...

It's breaking my heart. I feel like a very dear friend has died.
