Weight loss misconception?

I always thought that losing weight all I would have to do is eat less and exercise more, As well as everything I ate I would have to lose that same day and I would use my BMR to burn my stored fat. But now I'm realizing I'm wrong

After discovering videos of people eating 2,000+ calories a day(and that's their DIET) and losing 50-80+ pounds in 3-5 months by exercising,  I'm wondering how is this possible can somebody explain what I got wrong my entire life??

Your BMR is the basal metabolic rate. That's the calories you burn doing nothing  It has little to do with your stored fat, except that your body want to keep that fat.

The thing is, when you are at your fittest, your muscles weigh more than fat, and you can burn more calories with exercise that you would with the same weight but mostly fat, but the BMR would be about the same.

It's NOT a matter of eating less and doing more exercise. It's eating right and doing the correct exercises to maintain your muscle tone that matters.

Why were you wrong? You listened to the "gurus" instead of your own body. It's NOT a matter of calorie counting and basic exercises or eating less fat, or whatever fad that attracts you at the moment. It's eating properly for your body and doing what's needed to maintain the muscle tone. Eat wrongly (even so-called healthy foods) and you will gain weight. Exercise wrongly (whatever form it takes) and you will not lose weight.
