Too many supplements?

I take 2 multivitamins, 5 super greens supplement, a fish oil, a vitamin d.. that’s 9 pills and it seems like a lot. It’s all the recommended doses but it doesn’t seem safe to take that much stuff. Is this okay or should I stop taking so many?

You're flushing a lot of money down the toilet, basically. For water soluble vitamins/nutrients, if you consume more than your body needs, the rest is expelled as waste. For fat soluble vitamins/nutrients, it's possible to build up to a harmful level if you are consuming more than your body needs.

Better to eat a healthy, well balanced diet than to try to fill the gaps with supplements anyway. However, if you are going to supplement, then take only the specific nutrients you need (to find out if you have any deficiencies, see your doctor and ask for bloodwork to be done to determine whether you are deficient in any specific nutrients or not).

You should talk to your doctor and ask him. Yahoo Answers is not the place for medical advice.

But in my opinion, supplements are really not bad. Drugs are bad.

Probably just a waste of money.
