Is three scoops of whey protein too much in a day?

I drink two protein shakes, morning which is one scoop (24g) and one night, two scoops (after workout 48g). I mix with milk to add the few extra grams that comes along with that. Just curious if I may be over doing it with the second shake it being bigger and more.

By the way I am 5’9” and weigh roughly 145 lbs. I workout 3 days a week.

Not necessarily, but it may be more expensive than other options.  If that is the ONLY protein you r consuming, then you are consuming .5 grams/pound of body weight, which is fine, maybe on the lower end or a normal range.

If you are consuming other forms of protein, you might want to calculate those. It's hard for your body to use 48 grams or protein all at once, so you might consider spreading out your protein consumption a little bit more.  Excess protein consumed is usually stored as fat, while the surplus of amino acids are excreted.

Total protein intake should be anywhere from 0.5 - 1g per pound of body weight. That includes all protein you consume, not just the shakes (unless they are your only source of protein).
